The magazine is published at the end of both the fall and spring semesters. Submissions are accepted the semester prior to publication. All work is evaluated by the staff and the editorial board and is subject to proofreading and editing. No work is edited in a way that alters the original meaning or content of the writer. However, The Normal Review will not publish any work that is derogatory, demeaning, or vulgar. Discretion is left to the editorial board.
The Normal Review is run by an editorial board, whose members are elected annually and take office at the first meeting of the fall semester. The editorial board is composed of an editor-in-chief, prose editor, poetry editor, art director, and secretary. The editorial board oversees the evaluation of submissions. The magazine staff consists of a wide range of students with varying majors and interests.
Members of the magazine work throughout each semester with The Normal Review’s faculty advisor, David Galef, for advice, information, and encouragement. The role of a faculty advisor is to assist the students in publishing a professional magazine. The magazine meets once every week to partake in the blind-reading and review of student submissions.
The Normal Review endeavors to support Montclair State students in their passions and encourages their creation of literary and art works.
